SANTA FE---Betty Lou Armstrong, 81 of Santa Fe passed to her heavenly reward on July 22, 2007 at John Sealy Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 5, 1925 to David Jules and Minnie Byrd Perthuis and lived her entire life in Galveston County. Betty Lou was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock. She was a member of OLL Altar and Rosary Society and the OLL Friendship Club.
When her children were young, Betty was a 4-H leader and very active in all of their many activities. Being a long time business owner with her bookkeeping and income tax service, she was an active member of the Santa Fe and Hitchcock Chambers of Commerce and a 27year charter member of the Santa Fe Area Charter Chapter of American Business Women’s Association. Betty was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 5400. She held many offices in the organizations to which she belonged. Betty treasured her many friends and enjoyed their regular games of Poker, Boo-Ray, Bunko and Royal Neighbors. Betty Lou was a very special lady and enjoyed making new friends wherever she went. She loved participating in the local parades and many will remember Betty as “Baby Snooks” with her big tricycle. She lived life to the fullest and will be missed tremendously but remembered forever in our hearts and minds.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dale Armstrong and stepson O.D. Armstrong, Jr., Betty is survived by her daughter Vicki Franzke and husband Norman of Santa Fe, son Mike Armstrong and wife Donnarie of Santa Fe, stepson James Armstrong of Mtn. View, California; grandchildren Teresa Franzke of Austin, Carl Franzke and wife Cheris of Santa Fe, Orville J. Armstrong of Santa Fe and Jack Armstrong of Santa Fe plus four beloved great-grandchildren, Caetlyn, Caleb, Courtney and Caryna Franzke all of Santa Fe.
Pallbearers will be Scott Perthuis, Carl Franzke, Orville J. Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, Benny Smith and Matt Levis.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy. 6, Hitchcock, (409) 925-3501. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., with Deacon Harold Eskew officiating at Hayes Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Dickinson, Texas.
