Charles Waymon “Hammer” Compton 

 

SANTA FE - Mr. Charles Waymon “Hammer” Compton passed from this life Sunday evening, November 6, 2011, in Webster at Clear Lake Hospital. 

 

     Born February 15, 1951 in Pasadena, TX, Mr. Compton had been a resident of Santa Fe for 2 years, previously of Crosby, Bacliff and Baytown and had been employed as a mechanical engineer with Exxon-Mobil in Baytown for 38 ½ years.  He enjoyed spending his time fishing and camping.  

 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Douglas Compton, Myrel Virginia Compton and brother, Clarence Douglas Compton Jr., and is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Sandra Compton of Santa Fe; sons, Charles Compton, Jr. of Fort Hood, Benjamin Compton and Tommy Compton, both of Webster; step sons, John Henry Neuman, Jr. of Rosharon, Robert Eugene Neuman and wife, Paula Jean, Anthony Lee Neuman and wife, Ramona Michelle, Douglas Edward Neuman and wife, Mary Elizabeth, all of Santa Fe; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Timothy Compton and  wife, Margret D. of La Porte,  Patrick Compton  and wife, Kathryn S. of Spring. 

 

     A private cremation will be conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, (409) 925-3501.       

 

     Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2242 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030-2008.
