Evelyn W. (Rowley) Hodges Morrison

 

SANTA FE - Mrs. Evelyn W. (Rowley) Hodges Morrison passed from this life Monday afternoon, January 9, 2012, at her home surrounded by family in Santa Fe.

 

    Born May 10, 1915 in McComb, Mississippi, Mrs. Morrison had been a resident of Santa Fe for  8 years, previously of McComb for 31 years and LaMarque from 1960-1972.  Evelyn was the oldest charter member of Navilla Baptist Church in McComb, and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Fred, to Yakima, WA each year to pick apples.  Her passions included having garage sales, selling her vegetables at the farmers market in McComb, having her grandchildren come and stay with her in the summer, cooking big meals for her family, playing bingo, working search-a-word puzzles and watching game shows.

 

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Felicia Rowley; her husbands, Eugene Hodges and Fred Morrison; sons, James Ray Hodges, Jerry Eugene Hodges; sister, Myrtle Lee Brown; brothers, John, Amos, Jr. and Richard Rowley.

 

    Survivors include her son, James D. (Jimbo) Hodges; daughter, Beverly Pearson and husband, Dick; grandchildren, Elizabeth Tibaldo and husband, Ricky, John E. Pearson, Richie Pearson and wife, Tracy, Ramona Hodges, Amy Del Re and husband, Micheal, Jennifer Hodges, Brody Hodges; great-grandchildren, Kristina Ostermayer and husband, Ricci, Jonathan Tibaldo, Kayla Tibaldo, Macon Pearson, Jon Erik Pearson, J. J. Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Kaitlin Del Re, Madelyn Del Re, Gavin Del Re; great-great-granddaughter, Kamryn Ostermayer; siblings, Edwin Rowley and wife, Becky, Barbara Thornhill, Jim Rowley and wife, Margie and numerous nieces and nephews.

  

     Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Chaplain Chad Hawkins officiating.  

 

     Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

 

     Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Morrison’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
