Gary Wayne “Bear” Reiter
SANTA FE - Mr. Gary Wayne “Bear” Reiter passed from this life Tuesday morning, August 25, 2009, in Webster.
Born March 24, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. Reiter (or “Bear” as he was affectionately known to many) had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1985. He had worked as a pipefitter/welder for more than 38 years and recently worked at Amoco as a de-coker. He was a member of Arcadia Christian Church, the John Mitchell Masonic Lodge # 1401 AF & AM in Hitchcock where he had been past master, and was a former Shriner and a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Missouri and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #626 of Texas City. He was an active committee member of the Santa Fe Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, enjoyed deer and elk hunting with his daughter, Tina, deep-sea fishing when he had the chance, and portraying Santa Claus at the lodge, Amoco and the Bank of Santa Fe for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Linda Reiter; children, Tina Marie Reynolds and husband, Scott of Santa Fe, Theresa Ann Carter of Missouri, Ricky Edward Reiter and wife, Michelle of La Marque; grandchildren, Lindsey Renee Reiter, Sterling Carter; and brother, Arthur Reiter, Jr. and wife, Judy of Kansas City, MO.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Arcadia Christian Church with Pastor Tom Medlin officiating. A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
