Hermelinda Maria (Davila) Ayala
SANTA FE - Mrs. Hermelinda Maria (Davila) Ayala passed from this life Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in Webster.
Born April 18, 1927 in Fentress, TX, Mrs. Ayala had been a resident of Santa Fe for 37 years, previously of Galveston. She had been employed as a custodian for Santa Fe ISD for over 20 years and for many years had worked as a migrant worker, mainly picking cotton. She was a faithful member of Santa Fe First Assembly of God Church, loved God, her children and grandchildren and enjoyed her cats and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Francisco V. “Frank” Ayala; grandson, David Jeremiah; parents, Felix and Telesfora (Rodriguez) Davila; brothers, Mike, George and Justin Davila; sister, Petra Hernandez.
Survivors include her daughters, Magdalena “Mollie” Ayala and companion, Robert W. Degroot of Santa Fe, Sylvia Ayala Gajewski and husband, Jeff of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Kristopher Ayala and Cellia Lapai, Frank Cole and Jaime Recknor, Gabrielle Ayala; great-grandchildren, Jacob Weeks, Gabriel Ayala, Frank Cole, Jr., Kristopher “P. J.” Ayala, Jr., Bryleigh Cole; brother, Narcisco Davila and wife, Soledad of Hitchcock; sister, Elena Castillo and husband, Pedro of La Villa, TX; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
