Leo Eugene Conroy “Gene” DeLanney, Jr.

ALGOA – Mr. Leo Eugene Conroy “Gene” DeLanney, Jr. passed from this life Thursday evening, August 4, 2011, in Galveston.

     Born July 2, 1936 in Corpus Christi, TX, Mr. DeLanney had been a lifetime resident of Santa Fe area.  He had been the owner of DeLanney and Associates Realty in Santa Fe for 30 years.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alvin where he was an Elder and enjoyed teaching Sunday school.  Mr. DeLanney was also a former member of the Evening Optimist Club and enjoyed, golfing, fishing and especially bowling.

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Ann “Dee” (Donohew) DeLanney; sons, Robert DeLanney and Chris C. DeLanney, Sr.; brother, Mike DeLanney; parents, Leo Eugene Conroy and Rose (Jarmon) DeLanney, Sr.

     Survivors include his son, Mark DeLanney, Sr. of Grapevine; grandchildren; Ashley Ruth DeLanney, Chris Conroy “CC” DeLanney, II, Mark DeLanney, Jr., Matthew DeLanney and Cody Cokins DeLanney; brother, Bill DeLanney and wife, Gail of Albany, NY; sister, Gail Slater and husband, Jim of Shreveport, LA.

     Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2700 Lehi Lane, Alvin, TX, with Bishop Rick Pavalonis officiating.  Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.

     Casketbearers will be Cody Cokins DeLanney, Mark DeLanney, Jr., Matthew DeLanney, Tom Myers, Joseph Teague and Ryan Tuttle.  Honorary bearers will be Ranger Bond, Chris “CC” DeLanney, II, Stephen Harmon, Slade Ingram, Emilio Perez, Justin Shmick, Sam Shmick, Jake Slater and Mike Slater.
