Alan Oberg

 

SANTA FE - Alan Bruce Oberg, affectionately known as “Po Po”, passed from this life Saturday, November 14, 2009, at his deer lease in Fredericksburg, Texas.

 

     Born November 29, 1954 in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, Alan had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County, having lived in Hitchcock until moving to Santa Fe in 1985.  Alan had worked at BP since 1987 and was currently working as a shift manager.  He was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Texas City and an honorary member of the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department, but his passion was hunting and being with his family.

 

     Preceded in death by his father, Victor T. Oberg and his niece, Miranda Adams, survivors include his wife of over 29 years, Kelly D. Oberg; daughter, Jennifer Corbett; son, Matthew Oberg, all of Santa Fe; mother, Virginia Oberg of Hitchcock; sisters and brothers-in-law, Victoria and Cliff Brown of Waco, Sheila and Ron Meier of Hitchcock, Linda and David Kolodecik of Colorado Springs, CO, Carolyn and Ken Adams of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Cameron Oberg and McKenna Corbett and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Reverend Matthew Brackman officiating.  Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Visitation with the family will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

 

     Casketbearers will be Russell Brown, Randall Brown, Ronald Brown, Kevin Meier, David Meier, Greg Adams and Mark Adams.
