Alton Boyd Ray

 

     SANTA FE - Mr. Alton Boyd Ray passed from this life Friday, May 30, 2008, in Alvin.

 

     Born September 19, 1951 in Rotan, TX, to Vance E. and Myrtle Ray, Mr. Ray had been a resident of Santa Fe for 49 years, previously of Galveston.  He had been a machinist during his time of employment with OxyChem at Chocolate Bayou and was currently a welder and boilermaker at Dynamic Industrial Services in Alvin.  Alton served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a man who loved God, his family and country. 

 

     He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of over 9 years, Patsy Ray of Santa Fe; stepsons, Dwayne and Richard Dawson both of Santa Fe; grandsons, Shane and Ethan Dawson; brother, Weldon E. Ray and wife, Julie of Santa Fe; sister, Peggy Reeves and husband, Jack of Texas City; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

     Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor John Newton officiating.  Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m.  A private entombment will be conducted at Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
