Arnie Q. Neesmith

 

League city - Mr. Arnie Q. Neesmith passed from this life Sunday morning, October 17, 2010, in League City.

 

     Born March 20, 1923 in Toombs County, GA, Mr. Neesmith had been a resident of Galveston County for 40 years, previously of Georgia.  He had been employed as an electrician with IBEW Local # 1579 for over 58 years and had served in the US Army during WWII.  Arnie was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and thoroughly enjoyed spending time gardening.

 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, James Archie and Ella (Taylor) Neesmith and his daughter-in-law, Marion Neesmith.

 

     Survivors include his loving wife of over 69 years, Irene Neesmith of League City; sons, James Quay Neesmith of Anaconda, Montana, Thomas Joseph Neesmith and wife, Doris of Rancho Cordova, CA; daughter, Sara Lynne Holiday of League City; daughter-in-law, Sherrill Smith of Dickinson; brother, James Archie Neesmith, Jr. and wife, Ruby of Ft. Wentworth, GA; sister, Mary Secord and husband, Monroe of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Daniel Neesmith, Linda Hinsz, Eric Neesmith, Crystal Laman, Trisha Wooden, Tracie Patterson; 9 great-grandchildren.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Mr. Brad Heintz officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Casketbearers will be Mark Laman, Daniel Neesmith, Eric Neesmith, Chris Patterson and Adam Wooden.

 

     Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
