Arnold “Mac” McDaniel

 

GALVESTON - Mr. Arnold “Mac” McDaniel passed from this life Thursday afternoon, September 15, 2011, in Galveston.

 

     Born February 27, 1921 in Ruston, Louisiana, Mr. McDaniel had been a 60 year resident of Galveston.  He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was as an electrician for 60 years, retiring from Todd Shipyard in Galveston.  Mac was a member of the IBEW Local #527 and loved fishing and hunting. 

 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Annie (Bagwell) McDaniel; and brothers, Perry “Pete” McDaniel and A.J. McDaniel.

 

     He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Florence McDaniel; sons, Eugene “Butch”  McDaniel of Oyster Creek, Harold McDaniel of Galveston; daughter, Linda Sue Birdsong and husband, Larry of Pearland; sisters, Elbie Hall, Ethel Mae Hawkins, and Nelda Fae Kennedy, all of Ringold, LA; brother, W.R. McDaniel of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

 

    Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Hayes Funeral Home,10412 Highway Six, Hitchcock, TX, (409) 925-3501, Pastor Tom Medlin officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hayes Funeral Home.

 

     Casketbearers will be Carl Birdsong, Larry Birdsong, Mark Birdsong, Frederick D. McDaniel and Thomas Russo.
