Augustine Valdez Garcia
SANTA FE – Mr. Augustine Valdez Garcia passed from this life Friday evening, November 6, 2009, in Galveston.
Born February 17, 1941 in Gonzalez, Mr. Garcia had been a resident of Santa Fe for 18 years, previously of Alvin. He had worked for 40 years as a carpenter and loved his family, his animals, never knew a stranger and will be remembered as a good husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Simona (Valdez) Garcia; brother, Juan Manuel Garcia; and sister, Maria Louisa Trigo.
Survivors include his beloved wife of over 40 years, Hortencia Garcia of Santa Fe; children, Terry Ann Garcia of Temple; Bobby Ray Garcia and wife, Sandra of Seguin, Steve Luis of Seguin, Raul Garcia and wife, Barbara of Alvin, San Juan Garcia of Santa Fe, Jennifer Garcia of Santa Fe; brother, Mario Garcia of Nixon; sisters, Manuela Medina of Nixon, Rosa Rodriguez of San Antonio, Esther Moreno and husband, Macimo of San Antonio, Ezperanza Lara and husband, Adolfo of Nixon, Erlinda Solis and husband Manuel of Nixon, Erminea Gonzalez of Nixon, Elida Centeno and husband, Raymond of Seguin; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 110 E. South Street, Alvin, with Reverend Charles Borski, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
