Byron Charles Morten

 

LAMARQUE - Mr. Byron Charles Morten passed from this life Monday afternoon, June 1, 2009, in League City.

 

     Born May 14, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas, Mr. Morten had been a resident of LaMarque since 1967.  After serving in the United States Army Calvary during World War II, he became a Chief underwriter with National Old Line and American National Insurance Companies, from which he retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Morten was member of Peace Lutheran Church, Galveston Yacht Club, Chaparral Golf Club and enjoyed playing tennis, golf and sailing.

 

    Preceded in death by wife of 57 years, Winifred Morten, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael C. and Linda Morten of Somerville; daughter, Kristy Lynn Morten and companion, Bill Orton of LaMarque; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Gail Gerard of Little Rock, AR and grandchildren, Jennifer Holmes and husband, Mark; Nicole Morten and Natalie Morten. 

 

     A private cremation will be conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Funeral services in Little Rock, AR are pending.
