Carol Foster Harris
LA MARQUE- Mr. Carol Foster Harris passed from this life Tuesday morning, October 18, 2011.
Born April 10, 1917 in Alta Loma, Mr. Harris had been a lifetime resident of Galveston County where he worked at Amoco for 36 years. He proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a faithful member of VFW Post #5400. Carol was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, playing dominoes and cards.
Preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Estelle Harris; grandson, Ryan Harris; brother, Albert Harris; sisters, Evelyn Harris and Mary Edna Miller, survivors include his son; David Harris and wife, Mary Ann of Spring; daughter, Carolyn Crabtree and husband, Rick of Sugar Land; grandchildren, Scott Harris, Kevin Crabtree and wife, Bridget of Sugar Land, Darren Crabtree; great-grandchild, Kendall Crabtree; sister, Julia Reitmeyer; brother-in-law, Bill Lehmann and wife, Sammie of Texas City and sister-in-law, Katherine Cook of Houston.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563, (409) 925-3501. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Kevin Crabtree, Darren Crabtree, Russ Cook, Allen Lehmann, Bill Reitmeyer and Paul Schumann, Jr. Honorary Casketbearers will be Scott Harris, Warren Miller, Albert Reitmeyer, John Reitmeyer and Wayne Reitmeyer.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at the funeral home.
