Charles Arthor Peterson
TEXAS CITY – Mr. Charles Arthor Peterson passed from this life Saturday evening, August 29, 2009, in Texas City surrounded by his children.
Born November 4, 1921 in Galveston, Texas, Mr. Peterson had been a life long resident of Galveston County. He had been employed as a machinist with Union Carbide for 36 years. He proudly served our country in the US Merchant Marines during WWII. Mr. Peterson was a member of the Pioneer Club and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union IAM Local #1446. Charles had ministered at numerous nursing homes, an MC for Jim and Friends Band and was always ready to go on a fishing trip or just sail the bay.
Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Margaret Peterson; wife, Irene (Williamson) Peterson; brothers, Joe Peterson and Theodore Peterson; sisters, Ann Lori Ostermeyer, Lillian Lewis, Alice Bourgeois, Inez Munn, and Effie Thomas; granddaughter, Helena Irene Page and great-grandson, Austin Smith.
He is survived by his son, Charles Wayne Peterson and wife, Doris of Texas City; daughters, Cheryl Ann “Cherrie” Cascarelli and husband, Louis of Hitchcock, Carolyn Klos and husband, Gary of Galveston, Marilyn Hamilton and husband, Wayne of Sealy, Mary Jane Page and husband, Dr. Greg Page of San Antonio; grandchildren, Steven Peterson, Charles Peterson, Kevin Cascarelli, Keith Cascarelli, Karen Riddle, Amy Smith, John Clinton Moser, Charles Hamilton, Allen Hamilton, Helen Hamilton, Briana Page, and Olivia Blevins; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and special friend, Priscilla Hayes.
Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Martin officiating.
Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
