Charles Lynn Britz
SANTA FE – Charles Lynn Britz, known to most as either Chuck or Bo, passed from this life Saturday, January 19, 2008, at his home. Chuck was born on Nov. 2, 1949 in Beeville, TX and grew up in the small town of Skidmore in South TX. As a boy growing up he loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, shooting his first deer at age 8 with a .22 rifle. Chuck attended Skidmore-Tynan School and in high school was a good athlete, playing football and running track. After graduating from Skidmore-Tynan High School in 1968, he went to Wharton Junior College on a football scholarship for about 1 year, leaving due to a knee injury. Chuck came to Houston in 1970, went to welding school and got a job with Wyatt Industries as a pipefitter-welder. In 1983 he moved to Santa Fe and bought a house with 5 acres. Being the country boy he was, he fenced in the land, bought some cows and remained at 5602 Ave. F for the next 25 years. He married his first wife, Phyllis Fishing and raised 3 sons, Neil, Jodie and Bobby. After his divorce he married Rita and they spent many years together. In his latter years he lived by himself. He worked for ISP, formerly GAF, in Texas City for 22 years and will be missed by many, including his best friend and neighbor, Marvin Hickey. He is survived by his 3 sons, all of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Bobby Britz, Jr., Emily Braddock, Chantea Braddock, Skyler Braddock, Harleigh Braddock, Jodie Braddock, Jr.; mother, Betty Dominguez of Beeville; brother, Larry Britz and wife, Lorraine of League City; best friend, Marvin Hickey of Santa Fe. Memorial services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Medlin officiating.
A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
