David Clinton Cleveland
HITCHCOCK – On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, the master received his final call and Mr. David Clinton “Grandpa” Cleveland passed from this life to the next, surrounded by his family.
Born April 13, 1936 in Washington, DC, Mr. Cleveland had been a longtime resident of Hitchcock. He began “pulling wire” at age 14, a career that would span 60 years and would distinguish him as the “go to” guy among his peers. He was the owner and operator of The Electric Outlet and EMF Surveys and was well known for his work in the historical district in Galveston. A great mechanic and troubleshooter, he was known by his friends as a walking encyclopedia and an avid “Mercedes Man”. He enjoyed woodworking, read the bible every day, and had served in the U. S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Ann Todd and her husband, David of Ojai, CA, Rebecca Cleveland Lipman of Hitchcock, Karen Louise Bratcher and her husband, Mark of Alvin; sister, Betty Turcotte and her husband, Walter; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. today, March 24, 2011, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park, under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, (409) 925-3501.
Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to Zola Levitt Ministries, P. O. Box 12268, Dallas, TX 75225 in memory of Mr. Cleveland.
