David L. Black
SANTA FE – Mr. David L. Black passed from this life Friday morning, February 26, 2010, in Texas City.
Born October 3, 1949 in Leon County, Mr. Black had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1973. He was a member of the Meat Cutter’s Union for over 25 years and enjoyed woodworking, mowing the grass, being outdoors and especially loved spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Lizbeth (Connell) Black and brother, James C. Black; he is survived his wife of over 36 years, Mary E. Black of Santa Fe; children, Mary Elizabeth (Black) Bishop and husband, Kenneth, David James and wife, Amber, all of Santa Fe, Victoria Goolsby and husband, Trey of Texas City; brothers and sisters, Edward F. Black and wife, LouAnn of Rockdale, Velma Comer of Sundown, Mary Norrie and husband, Ray of Stillwater, Ruby Jordan and husband, Gerald of Alvin, Allen R. Black of Brazoria and 8 grandchildren.
A Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be James Black, Robert Black, Kenneth Bishop, Chuck Jordan, Kurt Pless and Dyron Walker. Honorary casketbearers will be Cliff Cramer and Ed Dunn.
