Dennis Conerly Roberts, 57, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 06, 2008, at Mainland Medical Center.
Mr. Roberts was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on February 22, 1951. He spent most of his life in Galveston County, where he worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He also cherished his family and spending time with them and was looking forward to the birth of his second grandson, Camden Roberts.
Mr. Roberts is preceded in death by his mother, Sue Roberts; brother, Wayne Roberts; both maternal and paternal grandparents; and his uncle, Ron Roberts; and aunt, Hazel Wilson.
He is survived by his son, Geoffrey Roberts and grandson, Skylor Roberts of Texas City; father, Wildon Roberts and wife, Eva of LaMarque; brother, Glenn Roberts of Galveston; sister-in-law, Janie Roberts and niece, Tracy Roberts Davis of Cabot, Arkansas; uncle, Jimmy Roberts; and aunt, Claudia Culpepper both of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Geoffrey Roberts, Glenn Roberts, Michael McVey, David Auker, Joey Carreon and Ken Kish.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008, at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, (409) 925-3501. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Hayes Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
