Don F. Hawkins

 

     SANTA FE - Mr. Don F. Hawkins passed from this life Tuesday evening, June 24, 2008, at UTMB in Galveston.

 

     Born September 13, 1926 in Brownwood, TX, Mr. Hawkins had been a resident of Santa Fe for 4 years, previously a longtime resident of Alvin.  He had been employed as an operator and repairman for Phillips Petroleum Co. in Alvin where he retired after over 40 + years of service.  He had served in the US Army during WWII, was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time building things, working on his lake house in Livingston and fishing.

 

     He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Debby Hawkins and brothers, Leroy, Rex and Ray Hawkins.

 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Oneta Hawkins of Santa Fe; son, Eddie Hawkins of Alvin; daughters, Patricia Lippert and husband, David, Brenda Rehm and husband, Dennis all of Santa Fe; brother, Forrest Hawkins and wife, Thelma of Beeville; sister, Oma McHorse of Houston; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. 

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Mr. Gil Curren officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Casketbearers will be Allan Graves, Travis Hawkins, Darin Lippert, Allen Rehm, Kyle Rehm and Daniel Schmid.
