Edgar Sessions, Jr.

LA MARQUE - Mr. Edgar Thomas Sessions, Jr. passed from this life Thursday, March 24, 2011, just two days shy of his 79th birthday.

     Born March 26, 1932 in Nuelm, Texas, Mr. Sessions had been a longtime Galveston County resident.  He was a painter with the Painter's Local # 585 for 20 years, was also a Tug Boat Chef and his last job was as an employee for 10 years at the Exxon on Palmer.  He was known as a wonderful storyteller and enjoyed reading western novels and loved to cook for family and friends. Mr. Sessions also served in the United States Air Force.

     He was preceded in death by his wife of over 39 years, Alice Althea, and his parents Edgar T. Sessions, Sr. and Alice Sessions from Trinidad, Texas as well as his sister Elsie Sweeten of Texas City. 

     His survivors include his children and their spouses, Ernest and Pamela Bivens of Texas City, Pansy and Bobby Arriola of Texas City, Virginia and Richard Hobbs of La Marque, Naomi and Jerry Tunis of Texas City; sister, Patricia Ann and husband, Bob Hocutt of Sonora; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Pastor Carl Fitzgerald officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.

     Pallbearers will be Ray Snarr, Bobby Arriola, II, John Allen, Trey Snarr, Jerry Tunis and Johnny Parker.

     Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
