Elmer Keeler
SANTA FE - Mr. Elmer Keeler passed from this life Sunday morning, October 10, 2010, peacefully at home.
Born September 9, 1908 in Payne, OK, Mr. Keeler had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1966, formally of Hitchcock. He had been employed as a welder with the pipefitters Local 211 for 61 years and retired in 1972 and a member of the Sons of Herman Lodge, Local 212 in Goliad, TX.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Inez Keeler; parents Bartley Lafayette Keeler and mother Stella Maude Spaun; sons, Charles Irvin Keeler and Elmer Ray Keeler; sisters, Grace Cheek, Nora Hawkins, Esther Rasberry; brothers, John Albert Keeler, Frank Keeler, Bartley Keeler and Charlie Keeler.
Survivors include sons, John Keeler and wife, Maxine of Dickinson, Eugene Paul Keeler of Santa Fe, Phillip Lee Houlton and wife, Nana of Llano; daughters, Jeanice Bias and husband, Steve of Cassville, MO, Beverly Corrine Harris of Santa Fe, Fayerene Smith and husband, Gary of Santa Fe, Deborah Arocha of Texas City; sister, Lula Faye Farrow of Sacramento, CA; 26 grandchildren, 41 great- grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be his grandsons, Elmer Paul Keeler, Mark Neal Sr., Charlie Keeler, Duane Keeler, Gary Kyle Smith, Phillip “PJ” Houlton Jr. Honorary bearers will be Mark Neal Jr. and Christopher Neal.
