Gene Allen Sanderford, Sr.
SANTA FE – Mr. Gene Allen Sanderford, Sr. passed from this life, Monday, April 26, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born March 5, 1934 in Bolton, MS, Mr. Sanderford had been a resident of Santa Fe for 47 years, previously of Galveston. He owned and operated an electronic repairs shop prior to his retirement, was a member of Arcadia Christian Church and had served as a Deacon. He was a member of the John Mitchell Masonic Lodge, No. 1401 AF&AM. He enjoyed working with electronics, woodworking and especially loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris Sanderford; mother, Hazel Creel; father, A.V. Sanderford; sisters, Betty Tourella and Doris Virginia Sanderford.
Survivors include his sons, Billy Sanderford and wife, Alana of Sun City, AZ, Gene Allen Sanderford and wife, Theresa of Montgomery, Clarence Sanderford of Santa Fe; daughter, Joyce Anders and husband, Dennis of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Jason Anders, Stacey Jackson, Jennifer Potrykus, Justin Sanderford, Davey Sanderford, Annamarie Sanderford, Christina Sanderford; great-grandchildren, Logan Anders, Nathan Anders, Drew Viner, Parker Sanderford and Tristan Hooper Sanderford; sisters, Sybil Guthrie and husband, Raymond of Gulfport, MS, Shirley Woolridge and husband, David of Tylertown, MS.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Arcadia Christian Church with Pastor Tom Medlin officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be Jason Anders, Billy Sanderford, Clarence Sanderford, Gene Sanderford, Jr., Davey Sanderford and Justin Sanderford. Honorary bearer will be Dennis Alford.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
