Guy Swint, Jr.

 

OAKWOOD - Mr. Guy Swint, Jr. passed from this life Thursday afternoon, December 24, 2009, in Lewisville, TX.

 

     Born May 3, 1927 in New Market, AL, Mr. Swint had been a resident of Oakwood for 10 years, previously of Hitchcock.  He had been employed as a brakeman/engineer with GH&H Railroad in Galveston for 41 years, served in the US Army during WWII.  Guy especially loved his grandchildren, enjoyed traveling in his motor home throughout the US and Canada and spending time with his faithful companions, “Coco” and “Lefty”.

 

     He was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Vivian Louise (Martin) Swint and Reba Faye Swint; parents, Guy Swint, Sr. and Anna Mae (Judge) Ivy; brother, Donald Swint; sister, Leone Connon.

 

     Survivors include his children and their spouses, Beth and Don Bolton, Cathy and Charles Langford, Eddie and Nancy Wilhelm, Nicky and Wanda Wilhelm, Cindy and Mike Menard; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Rayford Swint and wife, Kathy; sisters, Nettie Mae Watts and husband, Neal, Dora Mae Perry, Zelma Meeks and husband, Charles; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

     A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor John Newton officiating.  An interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Casketbearers will be his grandsons, Charles Langford, Jr., Dustin Menard, Chad Paysse, Dwayne Ratliff, Mark Ratliff and Dallas Rutledge.
