Harry Nurge Fergerson, Jr.

 

SANTA FE - Mr. Harry Nurge Fergerson, Jr. passed from this life Saturday evening, September 5, 2009, in Houston.

 

     Born September 8, 1938 in Corpus Christi, TX, Mr. Fergerson had been a resident of Galveston County for most of his life.  He had been employed as an electrician with Todd Shipyard where he retired after many years of service, served in the US Air Force during the Cuban Crisis and was of the Baptist faith.  He had been a founding member and had been very active in the Saltgrass Archery Club, enjoyed model airplanes and his grandkids were his pride and joy.

 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry N. and Osa (Smith) Fergerson, Sr.; granddaughter, Sarah Hendrix and is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elsie Fergerson; daughters, Teresa Kelly and husband, Jay of Alvin, Tina Hendrix and husband, Toby of New Waverly, Mona Jones and husband, Bubba of Dickinson; grandchildren, Jamie Kelly, C. J. Kelly, Joshua Hendrix, Joel Hendrix, Emily Hendrix, Justin Jones; sisters, Martha “Marcie” Doolittle and husband, Robert, Sr. of La Marque, Karla McDonald and husband, Glen of Santa Fe; great-aunt, Alice Cook and husband, Gerry; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Duck officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
