Herman Edward “Eddie” Nelson

 

     HITCHCOCK - Mr. Herman Edward “Eddie” Nelson passed from this life Wednesday, October 3, 2007, in Webster.

 

     Born December 29, 1935 in Niceville, FL, Mr. Nelson had been a resident of Hitchcock for 2 years, previously of Santa Fe.  He had been a Sea Bee in the United States Navy where he retired after 26 years of service and receiving numerous meritorious medals and ribbons, was of the Baptist faith, a lifetime member of VFW and a member of the Masonic Lodge in North Platte, Nebraska. 

 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Durlyn Nelson; children, Debbie Marcantel and husband, Donnie of Santa Fe, Shirley Mancuso Holbert of Dickinson, Jack Mancuso, Jr. and wife, Rose of Elberta, AL, Pete Mancuso of Santa Fe; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter C. Nelson and wife, Geraldine of Romayor, TX, Howard E. Nelson of Santa Fe; sister, Mavis Orr and husband, Jim of Colorado Springs, CO; numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

 

     Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Judge Mike Nelson officiating.  Military honors conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy Reserve.  Interment will follow at a later date at the Houston National Cemetery.
