Jack Dempsey Grant

 

SANTA FE – Mr. Jack Dempsey Grant passed from this life Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

 

     Born June 26, 1925 in Big Spring, Texas, Mr. Grant had been a resident of Santa Fe for 6 years, previously of Houston and Big Spring.  He was a farmer most of his life and a draftsman, having worked for 20 years with WKM in Missouri City. He attended First Baptist Church of Alta Loma and enjoyed woodworking and farming. 

 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella (Hill) Grant; brothers, Carl Grant, Haskell Grant, Jeff Grant, Jim Grant; sisters, Lucille Lilly and Zan Ryan.

 

    Survivors include his wife of over 65 years, Laura Grant of Santa Fe; son and daughter-in-law, Nelson and Liana Grant of Pasadena; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Larry Kurtz of Pearland, Cathy and Eddie Wilson of El Paso; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor John Newton officiating.  Graveside service will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Peace Chapel in Trinity Memorial Park Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas.
