James Harvey “Chick” Plowman
SANTA FE - Mr. James Harvey “Chick” Plowman passed from this life Wednesday morning, February 25, 2009, at his son’s home in Hitchcock, TX.
Born November 15, 1931 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Plowman had been a longtime resident of Santa Fe. He was employed as a pipefitter with Monsanto/Sterling for 40 plus years, until his retirement. He served in the US National Guard, and played professional baseball in the early 1950’s. In recent years he enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing with friends and family. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and their friends.
Chick was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Verdi Mae (Haney) Plowman and is survived by his son, James D. Plowman and wife, Elise of Hitchcock, their children James Lance Plowman, Cody Alexander Plowman and Haley Annelise Plowman; son William Kimble Plowman and wife, Kerri of Katy, their children, Brandon Nash Plowman, Madeline Sharon Plowman; brother, Joe D. Plowman and wife, Emma of La Marque; sisters, Betty Lou Sevin and husband, Lawrence of Frisco, TX, Alcie Balzer of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and Dorothy Roach of Bremen, Indiana; life- long friend and companion, Lois Kalbo of Santa Fe.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2009 at Hayes funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501. Memorial Services begin at 7:00 pm in the Chapel, with Dr. Mike Deaton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in the form of donations to the wonderful organization of A-Med Community Hospice, 8901 E. F. Lowry Expressway, Suite B, Texas City, TX 77591.
