James LeFevers
SANTA FE – Mr. James H. “Jimmy” LeFevers passed from this life Friday evening, September 30, 2011, at his home.
Jimmy was born August 17, 1937 in Galveston and spent his childhood there until moving to Arcadia when he was in the eighth grade. He was a member of the 1955 graduating class of Santa Fe High School where he excelled in sports. After graduating, he attended both Alvin Jr. College and the University of Houston. In 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Dorothy M. Brauer, which began a union that would span over 53 years and produce 3 children. He had worked for UTMB for 45 years, retiring from full time work in 2001 as the Supervisor of Building and Grounds, though he would continue in a part-time position. He was a skilled woodworking craftsman, a talent he began learning from his grandfather, Jens, at age 12, and was an avid, lifelong boater, fisherman and hunter. Jimmy spent many happy hours at his cabin on west bay and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather… always putting his family first in his life. He was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he was very active through the years, as well as being a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Jens and Carrie Jensen; parents, Riley and Nellie LeFevers; sister, Betty Klippel; nephew, Kevin Klippel and brother-in-law, Wallace Koenig; survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy of Santa Fe; son, J. Kyle LeFevers (Martha) of Houston; daughters, Kelly Lee (Larry) of Santa Fe, Karri Baker (Kevin) of San Ramon, Ca.; sister, Joyce Koenig of Round Rock; grandchildren, Claire LeFevers, Tyler Alan Lee, Kasey Baker (Taylor), Kris James Baker and great-grandson, Jackson James Baker.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Reverend Danny Barrett officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Kasey Baker, Kris Baker, Bruno Cristelli, Raymond Jarl, David Koenig and Wayne Locke.
Visitation with the family will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
