James Ronald Self
BAYOU VISTA ~ Mr. James Ronald Self went to his heavenly reward Sunday, March 28, 2010, after a lengthy illness.
He was a loving husband to Joan, his wife of 57 years, a loving father to Katherine Morris, son-in-law, Rodney Vick, James and daughter-in-law, Kathy Self and David Self. He loved and was so proud of his grandchildren, Jodie Blackburn, Dennis and Adam Morris, Lauren and Austin Self and Stephanie and David Sells; great-grandchildren, Meagan Johnson, Dakota Blackburn, Collin Morris and Tayton Peck; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Rosemary Self. His parents, Jesse and Effie and sister, Jo Bell Weaver preceded him in death.
He retired from the light company with 25 years of service and moved to Bayou Vista 31 years ago so that he would be close to Galveston Bay and his great love of fishing. He passed that love to Jim, his, son and Dennis, his grandson.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the funeral home, Pastor Chad Barrett officiating. Burial follows at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
