James Russell “Slim” Peck

 

HITCHCOCK - Mr. James Russell “Slim” Peck passed from this life Monday afternoon, November 28, 2011, in Texas City.

 

     Born May 20, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mr. Peck had been a resident of Galveston County for over 60 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, was a boilermaker for 40 plus years, was a member of the VFW, Boilermakers Union #132, and the Boilermakers Breakfast Club.  After retirement, his hobby was repairing lawnmowers.

 

    Preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Marie Peck; his wife of 38 years, Lenora “Jo” Peck and brother Fred Peck; survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Doris Peck; daughters, Carol Blair and husband, David, Kay Rodriguez and husband, Tommy; grandchildren, Billy and Bea Wooten, Bobby Wooten, Sr., Faith and Conrad Wolf, Jack Brown, Russell Haney and numerous step- grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Amanda Price, Bobby Wooten, Jr., Autumn Wooten, Dax Wooten; great-great-grandchild, Abigial Price; brother, Roy Peck; sister, Margaret Painter and husband, Pascal and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

    Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

     Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, 10708 Highway 6, under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home (409) 925-3501.
