James William Mote

SANTA FE - Mr. James William Mote passed from this life Monday afternoon, February 23, 2009, at his home.

     Born July 26, 1932 in Bay City, Mr. Mote had been a resident of Santa Fe for 17 years, previously of Bay City.  He had been employed as an operator with Dow Chemical for over 29 years until his retirement in 1991 where he began a second career as a Camp Manager for 8 years at Windamere Girl Scout Camp and had served in the US Army.   James had enjoyed riding horses, caring for livestock, being a member of the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society (HAPS), and spending time with the ladies of the Gulf Coast Quilter’s Guild, Mainland Morning Quilter’s Guild and the So What Bee’s where he was also a member.  Of course, the reason for being a member of the Quilter’s Guild was to be close to his wife, Peggy.  His family and friends meant the world to him.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar E. Mote, Sr. and Rebecca (Henry) Mote; sisters, Faydrice Green, Janette Goodman, Dorothy Holliday, Rebecca Lawrence; and brother, Oscar E.   Mote, Jr. 

     Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Peggy (Schulz) Mote of Santa Fe; sons, James William Mote, Jr. and wife, Vicki of Blessing, Frank E. Mote and wife, Lynette of Santa Fe, John Alan Mote and wife, Terri of Angleton; brother, Roy Green of Bay City; sisters, Winnie Marshall of Houston, Janese Walker and husband, George of Bay City; grandchildren, Kacie Mote, Mark Mote, Matt Mote, Jennie Brown, Garret Miller, Montana Mote, Justyn Mote, Jason Baker and wife, Amber, Daniel Banik, Jessica Banik, Jessie Wilcox, Justin Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Gage Baker, Gunner Baker and Shaydn Freeman.

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2009, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Rocky Louthan officiating.
