Jearl A. Powers

ARCADIA - Mr. Jearl A. Powers passed away Monday night, August 31, 2009, in League City at the age of 83.

     Born July 4, 1926 in Arcadia, TX, Mr. Powers had been a lifetime resident of Arcadia.  He had been employed as a draftsman with Union Carbide for 28 years, served in the US Army and was a member of Arcadia Christian Church, Gideon International, lifetime member of V. F. W. Post #8566 in Bacliff and an Elder at Arcadia Christian Church. 

     He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 61 years, Helen Joyce Powers and parents, Edgar A. and Zada Blanche (Tully) Powers.

     Survivors include his daughter, Linda S. Powers Withrow and husband, Guy; son, David Powers and wife, Tina Louise, all of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Jason deGroot and wife, Brandi, Clint deGroot and wife, Casey, January Cantrell and husband, Brian, Sara Dee and husband, Richard, Eric Powers, Christina Louise Gandy and husband, Craig, Rocky Holland, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Dayne deGroot, Dawson deGroot, Delaney deGroot, Peyton deGroot, Macey deGroot, Addison Nicole Cantrell, Jack Wesley Mancuso, Lillian Louise Gandy, Madelynn Ann Louise Holland, Spencer Dean Holland, Svetlana Yvette Dee, Richard Patrick Dee VI, Kyrianna Gavrielle Dee, David Allen Dee; sisters, Nettie Marie Ratliff of New Braunfels, Zada Long, Delpha Long and Iris Windham, all of Arcadia; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009, at Arcadia Christian Church with Reverend Greg Thurstonson, Pastor Clint deGroot officiating and Pastor Tom Medlin assisting.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

     Casketbearers will be his grandsons, Brian Cantrell, Clint deGroot, Jason deGroot, Craig Gandy, Rocky Holland, Jr.

and Eric Powers.
