John F. Couch, Sr.
LAMARQUE - Mr. John F. Couch, Sr. passed from this life Saturday evening, February 21, 2009, at his home.
Born February 28, 1935 in Poynor, TX, Mr. Couch had been a resident of LaMarque for 23 years, previously of Santa Fe. He had been employed as an operation supervisor with Monsanto and Sterling Chemical for 40 years and had served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Couch had coached youth basketball and baseball, served as president of the Santa Fe Little League, was a founding board member of Santo Club Park and enjoyed ranching and playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Floyd and Velma (Clardy) Couch; sisters, Aline Harris, Elsie Little, Eloise Benedict, Clara Mae Couch.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Earline Couch of La Marque; sons, John F. Couch, II and wife, Susan of Santa Fe, Forrest L. Couch and wife, Cheri of Katy; daughter, Carolyn Spencer and husband, Robert of Houston; brother, Ivory Couch of Kerrville; sisters, Molly Dixon and husband, Bob of Kerrville, Cynthia Voight and huband, Leonard; grandchildren, William Roland Guyton, Jr., Jeremy P. Guyton, Amberly Hall and husband, Aaron, Forrest L. Couch, II and wife, Megan, Jennifer Couch, John F. Couch, III, Hayley Couch; great-grandchildren, Aiden Hall and Ashton Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Arcadia Christian Church with Pastor Tom Medlin officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be grandsons, William Roland Guyton, Jr., Jeremy P. Guyton, Aaron Hall, Forrest L. Couch, II, John F. Couch, III, and nephew, Ronny Harris. Honorary bearers will be nephews, Jerry Paul Harris, Jerry Lynn Benedict, Mike McClain, Eddie Mathison, Roy Marschall, Guy Cook, Jr., Charles Phillips and Kelly Phillips.

John Couch was a good Christian man, a dedicated and faithful husband and a supportive loving dad and grandfather. Family was of the utmost importance to him. He exemplified the American spirit believing that with hard work, honesty and the grace of God, one could become or be anything that they dreamed. He will be missed greatly by his family, relatives and friends.
