John Edward Gurley
SANTA FE – Mr. John Edward Gurley passed from this life Monday evening, August 8, 2011, in Texas City.
Born November 11, 1926 in Cabarrus County, NC, Mr. Gurley had been a longtime resident of Galveston County, living in Santa Fe since 1989. He had been employed as a truck driver with Groendyke Transport and Younger Brothers for most of his life. John had attended Calvary Crossroads Church and especially loved his grandkids and his poodle dog, “Andy”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Jeanette (Kindley) Gurley; brothers, Willie Gurley, David Gurley; and sisters, Mary Faulk, Helen Johnson, Lou Kiser, Margaret Drye and Bonnie Gurley.
Survivors include his loving wife, Delfina Gurley of Santa Fe; sons, Humbert Galindo, III and wife, Stacia of Santa Fe, Robert Galindo, Sr. and wife, Janet of Santa Fe; daughters, Rosemary Lakin and husband, David of Copperas Cove and Angel Galindo of LaPorte; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Del Toler officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Mike Andrews, Antonio Galindo, Emile Galindo, Humbert Galindo, Robert Galindo, David Lakin and Miguel Rodriguez.
