John Joseph Ryan, Jr.
SANTA FE - Mr. John Joseph Ryan, Jr. passed from this life Monday, March 10, 2008, in Texas City.
Born June 8, 1940 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Ryan had been a resident of Santa Fe for 32 years, previously of La Marque and Galveston. A member of the Operator’s Local #450 since 1973, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for 35 years, was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Friendswood, enjoyed Nascar and loved his family, especially his grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph and Gladys Ryan; friend, Joe Scofelia.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 32 years, Winafae Ryan; daughter, Crystal Dawn Ryan Gates and husband, Nathan of League City; grandson, Hayden Alexander Gates; brothers, Jimmy Ryan and wife, Pat of Porter, Mike Ryan and wife, Suzy of Bandera; sisters, Susan Montrose and husband, Edward of Santa Fe, Vivian Hartman, Carolyn Lutomski and husband, Jerry all of Texas City, Evelyn Syers and husband, Richard of Portland, OR; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph W. Hobratschk officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Robin Cummings, Clegg Edward DeWalt, Alvin Goonie, Josh Montrose, Steven Myers, Rodney Welsh, Ronald Witt and John Wooley. Honorary bearers will be Herbert Dunlap, Jr., Nathan Gates, Chris Ligon, Greg Samford, Carlos Sanchez and members of the Operator’s Local #450.
