Joseph A. Durio
HITCHCOCK - Mr. Joseph A. Durio passed from this life Sunday evening, December 9, 2007, in Texas City.
Born September 13, 1920 in Morgan City, LA, Mr. Durio had been a resident of Bayou Vista since 1969, previously of Texas City. He had retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1986 and had also worked at the Amoco Tin Smelter. Mr. Durio was in the US Navy for 12 years having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of the VFW Post #5400 in Santa Fe, the IBEW Local 527 and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Durio and parents, Cyrus and Adolphina (Roy) Durio.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Mary A. “Vicki” Durio of Bayou Vista’ son and daughter-in-law, Joseph R. and Debra J. Durio of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Earline Burns of TN; granddaughter, Samantha Ann Tork and husband, Marcus; great-grandchildren, Vivian Tork and William Tork.
A graveside service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend John Kappe officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
