Joseph Earl “Sonny” Vail
SANTA FE - Mr. Joseph Earl “Sonny” Vail passed from this life Monday morning, September 19, 2011, at his home.
Born May 11, 1931 in Hodge, LA, Mr. Vail had been a resident of Santa Fe for 44 years and a charter member of Santa Fe Baptist Church. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #450 for 40 years, was known as “Mr. Fix It” and was very involved in his church. Sonny enjoyed fishing and spending time with is best friend, his dog, “Troubles”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Oscar and Annie Mae (Warren) Vail; and his sister, Mary Dee Dudley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Vail; sons, Donny Vail and wife, Analyn, Ronny Vail and wife, Debbie, Rocky Vail and wife, Pam, Tony Vail and wife, Joyce, all of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Dana Simons, Craig Vail, Jarrod and Allison Vail, Sheree and Tommy Armstrong, LeAnn and Jeff Williams, Andrea and Rudy Barraza, Toby and Lisa Vail, Dillion Kelly; great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Gregg Armstrong, MacKenzie Simons, Katelyn Brown, Allexis Barraza, DeAnna Williams, Taylor Keen, Miah Barraza, Keaton Simons, Kearstyn Vail, Hannah Williams, Colby Williams, Tristyn Vail, Trace Vail; sister, Lucille Dudley of League City.
A funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Santa Fe Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Jones and Pastor Rudy Rios officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be Michael Barnes, Gary Bonura, Bubba Hart, Ralph Klaes, Ben Lindsey and Gary Smith.
