Julio Perez

 

SANTA FE - Mr. Julio Perez passed from this life Thursday morning, May 12, 2011, in Hitchcock.

 

     Born January 28, 1913 in Waelder, TX, Mr. Perez had been a resident of Santa Fe for over 75 years, previously of Waelder.  He had been employed as a laborer with Grace Memorial Park retiring in 1985 after 3 years of service and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock.  Julio had been a longshoreman in Galveston for two years was a member of the Guadalapanos and enjoyed gardening.

 

     He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 73 years, Consuelo Perez; daughters, Janie Medina, Matilda Mendoza; parents, Basclio and Delfina (Melchor) Perez and twelve siblings.

 

     Survivors include his daughters, Delfina Rives of Hockley, Florentina Unger and Robert (Butch) of Hitchcock; grandchildren, Ronald Rives and Rhonda, Sylvia Rowehl and Eugene, Edward Ray Medina, Teresa Martin, Alfred Ray Mendoza and  Bobbe Gale, Patricia Reza and  Joe, Janie Loreza and Omar, Gerald Mendoza and wife, JoAnn; great-grandchildren, Fredrick Medina, Christina Rowehl, Jennifer Rowehl, Michael Martin, Kimberly Mendoza, Ronald Henry Rives, Anthony Mendoza, Madison Rives, Jackson Rives; step-grandchild, John Paul; great-great-grandchild, Crystal Medina; sisters, Celia Sosa, Emma and Julio Luna, all of Santa Fe, Mary Uribe of Friendswood; special friend, David King.

 

     A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00 noon Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

 

     Casketbearers will be Michael Martin, Edward Medina, Alfred Mendoza, Ron Rives, Gene Rowehl and Robert Unger.  Honorary bearers will be Narziso “Chetty” and wife, Mary Perez, David King and Daniel Neito.

 

     Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, with a Vigil and Rosary recited by Deacon Joe Kelly and the Guadalapanos beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
