Kenneth Boatman, Sr.
SANTA FE – Mr. Kenneth Nolan “Bone” Boatman, Sr., passed from this life Saturday at his home.
Born January 11, 1944 in Texas City, Mr. Boatman had been a lifetime resident of Galveston County. He had worked at Amoco as a machinist for 33 years before retiring, was a lifetime benefactor of the NRA, a member of the North American Hunting Club and the Texas Rifle Association and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; son, Kenneth, Jr.; parents, Milton and Duffie Boatman and sister, Winona Klenke, survivors include his children and their spouses, Michael Boatman of Santa Fe, Darrin and Michelle Boatman of Texas City, Michele and Ryan Cox of Santa Fe; brother, Gerald Boatman and wife, Mary Lois of Roans Prairie; sister, Frances Armstrong and husband, Cecil of Santa Fe; brother-in-law, Ron Klenke of Houston; grandchildren, Nichole Boatman, Lacy Mayen, D. J. Boatman, Melody Boatman, Kirstie Wilborn, Shelby Boatman, Eric Wilborn, Braden Boatman and great-grandchild, Jeremiah Colvin.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Pastor Tim Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, with D.J. Boatman, Dwayne Hankamer, Jeffrey Hankamer, Kevin Watkins, Tom Webb and Eric Wilborn serving as casketbearers. Rodney Hankamer will serve as an honorary bearer.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway Six, (409) 925-3501.
