SANTA FE - Mr. Lloyd Morse, Jr. passed from this life Monday afternoon, October 13, 2008, in Texas City.
Born March 14, 1924 in Galveston, Mr. Morse had been a resident of Santa Fe for 26 years, previously of Texas City. He had been employed at Monsanto for 30 years as an operations technician in the cyanide unit, served in the US Army during WWII, was a member of the VFW Lodge # 8248 in LaMarque, the Chaparral Golf Club (formerly Monsanto Club) and enjoyed dancing.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Eva Bell (Graham) Morse; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lloyd and Joyce Dazey; sisters, Dorothy Hawthorne, Naomi Layland; brothers, David Morse, Paul Morse; grandsons, Lance Looper and Bryan Looper .
Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Viola Morse of Santa Fe; son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Morse, III and wife, Marilyn of Santa Fe; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Rose and Benny Cornelius of Texas City, Starlett Darlene Roe of Texas City, Eva Ruth and Jim Neinas of Texas City, Stacy and Rodney Fielder of Friendswood; brothers, Daniel Morse of Houston, Wesley Morse of Puerto Rico, Robert Wayne Morse of Illinois; sisters, Mary Louise Bergeron of Galveston, Ann Bell Hemingway of Galveston, Lucy Katherine Glaze of Mississippi, Eva Jean Roberts of LaMarque, Judy Pearl Arnold of LaMarque; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Scalora officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Alan Morse, Lloyd Christopher Morse, Shawn Morse, Brandon Looper, Justin Marsh and Ben Cornelius. Honorary Bearers will be Morgan Angell, Lloyd Christian Looper, Michael Gage Looper and Jordan Marsh.
