Monroe Lyman “Bennie” Morris, Sr.
Corpus Christi - Mr. Monroe Lyman “Bennie” Morris, Sr. passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2011, in Corpus Christi.
Born February 23, 1932 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Morris had been a resident of Corpus Christi for 25 years. He had retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 after 20 years, and worked 11 years with Team, Inc. in Alvin, and 9 years with Triple D Security. Mr. Morris was a member of Church of Hope, a former Deacon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer, Texas, a former member of the American Legion and loved Baseball and other sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julious and Ruth Monroe Morris; brothers, Julious Morris and James Morris, and daughter, Christina Marie Morris.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 54 years, Charlotte Morris of Corpus Christi; sons, Monroe Morris , Jr. and wife, Laura of Conroe, Julious Morris and wife, Melissa of Alvin, Randall Morris of Santa Fe, Mark Morris and wife, Jackie of Ponca City, OK.; daughters, Cheryl Kaster of Amarillo and Kimberly Madeley of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Stacy Morris, Leah Curran, Danial Dale Morris, Randall Morris, Jr., Natisha Alvey, Shanna Jones, Sarah Recchilongo, PV2 Christopher Morris, Crystal Mabry, Duane Skaggs, Dakota Morris, Courtney Morris, Brooke Madeley, 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Porter and husband, Bob of Baytown and Gloria Mae Crawford- Thorkveen of Lumberton.
A funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Steve Mistretta, officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Duane Skaggs, Leland Mabry, Dale Morris, Randall Morris, Jr., PV2 Christopher Morris, and James “Jimbo” Morris.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
