O. C. Ray

 

SANTA FE - Mr. O. C. Ray passed from this life Wednesday evening, May 4, 2011, at his home.

 

     Born September 6, 1922 in Alco, LA, Mr. Ray had been a resident of Santa Fe for over 20 years, previously of La Marque.  He had been employed as an operations supervisor for Union Carbide for over 39 years and was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church.  O. C. had been the Adult III Men Sunday School Teacher and previously ran the children’s van ministry.

 

     He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velma (Burleson) Ray; parents, Jasper and Nannie (Clark) Ray; brothers, M. E. Ray, D. D. Ray, Olvin Ray; sister, Lola Yater.

 

     Survivors include his sons, Jerry Ray and wife, Candace of Richmond, Larry Ray and wife, Joan of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Rodney Ray and wife, Debi, Tami Crosland and husband, Don, Bradley Ray, Kevin Ray; great-grandchildren, Lauren Raymont, Bryn Ray, Bria Ray, Cory Ray; sister, Muriel Ball of Bowling Green, KY, Mittie Dowden of Rosepine, LA, Johnnie Duncan of Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Helen Ray of Santa Fe, Verna Ray of Rosepine, LA; special friend, Mary Stafford of Texas City; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at Arcadia First Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

 

     Casketbearers will be David Duncan, David Galkowski, Bradley Ray, Kevin Ray, Rodney Ray and Carlos Salas.  Honorary bearers will be the Arcadia First Baptist Church Adult III Men’s Sunday School class.

 

     Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
