Paul Cox
SANTA FE - Mr. Paul Cox passed from this life Thursday, February 26, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Born January 1, 1951 in Dothan, Alabama, Mr. Cox had been a resident of Galveston County since 1954. He was an experienced heavy equipment operator for 35 years, served in the United States Navy, was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church and the Local 450 United Steel Workers Union. Mr. Cox was a dedicated family man that loved life on the bayou, being with his children, fishing, gardening, cooking and will be lovingly remembered as a gentle giant who demonstrated that kindness was most effective in dealing with life’s challenges.
Preceded in death by his father, Dewitt Cox and sister, Virginia Anderson, survivors include his wife, Norma Cox of Santa Fe; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Dewitt and Rachel Cox of Dickinson, Aaron and Melissa Teague of Texas City; mother, Eloyce Cox of Santa Fe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewitt J. and Frances Cox of Santa Fe, Jimmy and Pam Stovall of London, England; sisters and brothers-in-law, Remona and Ed Baugham of Santa Fe, Rheta and Bill Carpenter of Santa Fe, Donna Burk of Houston; favorite aunt, Nell Walton of LaMarque; grandchildren, Hayden Cox, Eric Teague, Elizabeth Teague; nieces and nephews that called Paul “PawPaw”, Jordyn Ray, Chloe Wright, Donnas, Ashlynn, and Aryss Willis and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Brett Collard, Ryan Cox, James Foree, Kris Lee, Larry Lee and Clinton Mancuso.
