Porfirio Ibarra, Jr.
SANTA FE - Mr. Porfirio Ibarra, Jr. passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, December 7, 2011, in Galveston.
Born December 26, 1937 in Eagle Pass, Texas, Mr. Ibarra had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1967. He retired as a maintenance mechanic for Amoco/BP after 30 years of service, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Porfirio, Sr. and Lucy Ibarra; son, Mike Ibarra.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ibarra of Santa Fe; sons, George Ibarra and wife, Beth of Galveston, Richard Ibarra and wife, Johana of Santa Fe, Porfirio “Pilin” Ibarra, III of Houston; daughters, Martha Handy and husband, Ralph of Pearland, Sandra Andrich and husband, Eddie of Alvin; brother, Luis Ibarra and wife, Corine of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 1 nephew and 3 nieces.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock, with Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be Jonathon Andrich, Ralph Handy, Robert Handy, Anthony Ibarra, Gabriel Ibarra and Mark Ibarra.
The family will receive visitors 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501. A Vigil service conducted by Deacon Alvin Lovelady and a recitation of the Holy Rosary led by Don LeCompte will begin at 7:00 p.m.
