Robert William Ring, Sr.

 

HITCHCOCK - Mr. Robert William Ring, Sr. passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, September 1, 2009, in Webster.

 

     Born July 1, 1942 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Ring had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County.  He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with Bechtel Construction at Union Carbide and was a member of the IEOL Local #450 for 40 years, was of the Baptist faith and a former member of the Elks Lodge in La Marque.  Mr. Ring was on the Slow Poke Cook Team and served in numerous cook-offs at the Galveston County Fair Grounds and was an avid watcher of cooking shows on TV and enjoyed fishing, gardening and shooting pool.

 

     He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Louise (Pearson) Ring and brothers, Herbie and Jimmy Ring.

 

     Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Charlotte Ring; sons, Robert W. “Bobby” Ring, Jr. and wife, Dayna of Deer Park (granddaughter, Shannon; great-grandchildren, Brianna and DeCarlos; grandson, Robert V.; great-grandson, Vincent), Michael Ring and wife, Pisa of Texas City (grandchildren, Meshealle, Michael, Jr. and Stephani), Doug Carter and wife, Kristie of Weimar (grandchildren, Monica, Helana, Madyson and Ryan); daughters, Diane Riojas and husband, Mark of Hardin, TX (grandchildren, Mark Steven, Travis and Dylan), Karen Glossop and fiancé, Brad Huff of Texas City (granddaughters, Stacy and Brittany); sisters, Emily Bonnette and Louise Herbert and husband, Frenchy all of Santa Fe.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Medlin officiating.  A private cremation will be conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

 

     Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
