Reginald Thorne “R. T.” Gandy

 

CROCKETT - Mr. Reginald Thorne “R. T.” Gandy passed from this life Friday, February 6, 2009, at his home.

 

     Born February 17, 1922 in Ft. Worth, TX, Mr. Gandy was a resident of Crockett for 23 years.  He served in the US Air Force during WWII and was employed as a pipefitter with US Construction for 20 years before retiring in 1985.  R. T. was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Crockett and enjoyed spending time watching football, going to church, visiting with friends and had a great love for his family. 

 

     He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Otto Gandy; parents Robert and Ethel (Patton) Gandy; son-in-law, Michael T. Gorman.

 

     Survivors include his loving and faithful wife of over 58 years, Ida “Ducky” Gandy of Crockett; son, Ronald Otis Gandy and wife, Becky of Crockett; daughters, Nancye Elizabeth Gorman and Cynthia Lou Gandy both of Houston; special daughter-in-law, Teresa Flores of Alvin; sisters-in-law, Ava Tiller, Billie J. Beard and husband, Earl; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and his good buddy, his fox terrier, Jake.

 

     Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Ottis Byers officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

     Friends may call from 10 - 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.

 

     Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the Hospice in the Pines, 116 S. Raguet, Lufkin, TX 75904 and/or the charity of your choice.
