SANTA FE - Mrs. Claudia L. Perez passed from this life Sunday evening, January 24, 2010, in La Marque surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 6, 1924 in Gonzales, TX, Mrs. Perez had been a life long resident of Santa Fe. She was employed as a housekeeper at UTMB in Galveston for over 10 years, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and loved to sew, garden, and was an avid dancer.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Perez; her parents, Francisco and Rosa (Morales) Ligues; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; and the father of her children, Luciano Perez.
Survivors include her sons, Jesse Perez and wife, Yolanda of Santa Fe; David Perez and wife, Bobbye of Hitchcock; Frank Perez and wife, Mary Helen of Pearland; Rick Perez of California; daughters, Tina Ybarra and husband, Lawrence; Lupe Castillo; Sandy Hughes and husband, Frank; Carmen Negrete and husband, Al, all of Santa Fe; Liz Garza and husband, Jose of Crosbyton; Mary Albright of Dickinson; sisters, Celia Sosa; Emma Luna and husband, Julio, all of Santa Fe; Mary Uribe of Tomball; 32 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Castillo, Albert Perez, Eric Perez, Dino Silvas, Mark Silvas and Mark Ybarra. Honorary bearer will be Maison A. Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary.
The family would like to thank Texas Home Health and Bayou Pines Care Center for the loving care they gave and to Mrs. Rachel Lopez for faithfully bringing communion to their mother.
