HOUSTON – Mrs. Connie Jo Rock Pokluda passed from this life Tuesday morning, September 15, 2009, in Houston.
Born June 8, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Connie had called Houston her home for 37 years. She worked as an administrator in the oil industry for 20 years, was an avid reader and loved sports and supported the SPCA\Special Pals. A world-class traveler and fierce ballroom dancing competitor, she lived life to the fullest.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ida Leona Rock, survivors include her husband, Ben Pokluda; step-children and their spouses, James Pokluda, Houston, Bryan and Betsy Pokluda, Granbury, Christine and Kevin Underwood and Jessica Pokluda, all of Houston; and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with interment at Galveston Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be James Pokluda, Bryan Pokluda, Kevin Underwood, Jose Blanco, Brian Pokluda and Zachary Underwood.
Visitation with the family will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
