Dora McGehee
SANTA FE - Mrs. Dora Gaither McGehee passed from this life Tuesday evening, September 28, 2010, in Texas City.
Born October 13, 1924 in Merkel, Texas, Mrs. McGehee had been a resident of Santa Fe for 12 years, previously a 30-year resident of La Marque. A graduate of Texas Tech, she had most recently worked as the assistant administrator in the registrar’s office at College of the Mainland for 15 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in La Marque, enjoyed teaching, being a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, gardening and fishing, especially for flounder.
She is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Edward McGehee of Santa Fe; son, David McGehee (Elvia) of Cypress; daughters, Trezlyn Harclerode of Dickinson, Sandy Kensman (Mike) of Austin; sister, Becky Garner of San Marcos and grandchildren, Gail Marie McGehee and Nikki Harclerode.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Sharon M. Sabom officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
