Doris Ruth Fisher
SANTA FE - Mrs. Doris Ruth Fisher passed from this life Friday evening, January 9, 2009, in Texas City.
Born December 26, 1933 in Woodland, AL, Mrs. Fisher had been a resident of Galveston County for 45 years. She had been a member of Calvary Crossroads Church and the M and M’s at Calvary Crossroads Church. Doris had enjoyed working with crossword puzzles, singing and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Tiny Mae Snyder; husband, James Fisher; son, Larry Staton; son-in-law, Sandy Nicholson; brothers, Ernest and Elmer Snyder; brother-in-law, William O’Neal.
Survivors include her daughters, Shelia Kreger Powell of League City, Deborah Poarch of La Marque, Ramona Nicholson-Sehmann (Eric) of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Jamie and Jeff Poarch, Melissa Nicholson, Tim Nicholson (Amanda), Austin Eidelbach, Chris Kreger, Rick Kreger, Jr. and wife, Stacy, Shannon and Shane Borom, Larry Staton, II, Kelly and Tonya Staton; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence Snyder and wife, Charlotte of Canton, GA, Thurman Snyder and wife, Ruby of Mebane, NC; sisters, Elizabeth O’Neil of Cleveland, TX, Janice Hagerty and husband, Roy of Durham, NC; her family at Calvary Crossroads Church.
The lights of Doris’ life were Austin Eidelbach, Gabe Poarch and Devin Nicholson.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Del Toler officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Jerry Brogdon, Chris Kreger, Rick Kreger, Jr., Jamie Poarch, Jeff Poarch and Eric Sehmann. Honorary bearers will be Tim Nicholson, Kelly Staton and Larry Staton, II.
